Our customers are mostly folks in higher education & we've recently had a few inquiries about Kaltura.

They have a very well-documented API.  It would be fantastic if you can look into adding them:

Thanks so much!

We will reach out to Kaltura about becoming an Embedly customer, but the last time we talked to them, Kaltura had no interest.

As of now it's not planned.

Hi guys,

I'm happy to assist forming the integration.

Sean - Not sure what you mean by "becoming an Embedly customer"... Why is integrating the Kaltura API to Embedly requires us being a customer of Embedly?

Samira - Are you able to share use cases of the needed Kaltura-Embedly integration?

Thanks!

Thanks for joining the discussion, Zohar--

I work for Bepress, where we develop Digital Commons: a hosted institutional repository software platform for (mostly) academic libraries.

We have quite a few customers who already have audio and video hosted elsewhere, but still want to be able to display that rich content alongside the content that's being published in their repositories.

This is where embed.ly comes in.

Some live examples of embedded video:

Example of ISSUU:

One librarian recently emailed us and requested for some level of integration between Kaltura and their Digital Commons repository. Her university hosts all of its media assets with you guys, and she'd love to be able to embed those videos in the repository.

Thanks again for your reply, and please do let me know if you need additional information from me.

Sam

Hi Sam,

Thanks for the examples.

I'm not too familiar with Embed.ly, could you please elaborate on the how the customers use Embed.ly for embedding in your repositories?
For example; Do you  have an icon on a wyswyg editor that uses Embed.ly in the background and all the user does is provide a URL of their video page?

Thanks.

We simply capture a URL from a designated text input and embed.ly does the rest.

If you look at the source code for any of the above-mentioned examples, search for: ir_embedly.inc

That's the include file that contains the output.

=)
